The ADA Explained

What is the ADA, and does it affect YOU?!

 Keep Reading to Find Out!

I recently had to explain what the American's with Disabilities Act (ADA) to a group of managers. I realized at that point that not only are many not familar with it, or how if it pertains to them...but, many employers and managers may not understand who it pertains to, and what they are required to do for their employees.

One important thing to remember is-Just because you can't see the disability does not mean it's not there! Many people already know this, but it's helpful to have trainings to remind managers and employers how to handle certain situations with empathy and understanding, while staying professional.

In addition, MANY EMPLOYEES are affected and don't even realize it!

What is "ThingLink?" and how does it stack up to the "Old Fashioned" way of learning?? There are several new technology apps that provide ways to interact with others, especially during trainings. I think the whole idea of a field trip is to get away, to share an experience with your class...

Picture yourself in the midst of a hectic workday, feeling the weight of deadlines and responsibilities. With an overwhelming sense of the need to recharge, you decide to take a quick break. You put on your favorite upbeat song, the rythm pulsating through your body as you let go of tension and stress. With each beat, you feel your energy levels rise, and soon you find yourself moving to the music, letting the cares of the day slip away. I tried taking a brain break last week, in the middle of the day when I found the tension rising into my shoulders and neck. I knew I needed a break, and lucky for me I have my own office! So I scrolled through my music and found an oldie, but a goodie, hit start and let the music take over. It didn't take but a couple of seconds for the surge of endorp...
