Brain Breaks-Dancing Stress Away!

Brain Breaks

Dancing the stress away...Does it really work?

Taking a brain break and dancing to an upbeat song can be a rejuvenating experience, offering a regrshing break from your daily demands. Picture yourself in the midst of a hectic workday, feeling the weight of deadlines and responsibilities. With an overwhelming sense of the need to recharge, you decide to take a quick break. You put on your favorite upbeat song, the rythm pulsating through your body as you let go of tension and stress. With each beat, you feel your energy levels rise, and soon you find yourself moving to the music, letting the cares of the day slip away.

I tried taking a brain break last week, in the middle of the day when I found the tension rising into my shoulders and neck. I knew I needed a break, and lucky for me I have my own office! So I scrolled through my music and found an oldie, but a goodie, hit start and let the music take over. It didn't take but a couple of seconds for the surge of endorphins to flood my system, which lifted my spirits and took over my mind. For a few minutes I was able to escape from the preassure of work, life, and the physical and mental anguish that my body was feeling. It gave me a minute for self-care and reminded me to enjoy the little things in life. I went back to completing my tasks, with a better attitude, more focus and clarity, while humming the lingering beat to myself with a half grin on my face!

  1. I am so glad you tried a brain break and found it useful! I agree that too often we relentlessly march to the finish line on all of our tasks but with a brain break we have the possibility to continue our work with renewed energy, creativity, and effectiveness. Put it on your calendar so you don't forget to try another brain break in the future!

What is "ThingLink?" and how does it stack up to the "Old Fashioned" way of learning?? There are several new technology apps that provide ways to interact with others, especially during trainings. It really is amazing to see how technology has evolved, and what is available to help convey ideas or theories to students/learners.  ThingLink is a platform that allows users to create interactive images and videos. You can add links, information, and multimedia content to specific parts of your image or video, making it engaging and informative.  Although this app can be utilized in many different educational scenarios, the one scenario that grabbed my attention was virtual fieldtrips!! How in the world is this possible?? I come from an era that thrived on school field trips!!  Is it possible to provide the same experience virtually? I guess it depends on how you look at it. I think the whole idea of a field trip is to get away, to share an experience with your class...
